Controls up to eight radios, four channels, in Main/Standby - PJ7 or Lemo connector.
The Jotron RC-8D desktop radio controller controls up to eight radios in four channels of Main/Standby configuration, operated from its own front-panel speaker and microphone, configured over an encrypted web connection, and powered through redundant DC or Power over Ethernet.

In a fixed airband installation the transceiver and the operator are rarely in the same
place. The radio sits where the feeder run to the antenna is short; the operator sits in the
control room or at the helideck position. The controller is what separates the two, and
Jotron describe the RC-8 family as small and elegant devices able to control up to eight
radios - four channels - in a Main/Standby configuration, suitable for smaller airports,
offshore helidecks, and use as an emergency radio controller.
Main/Standby matters on a real installation because a single transceiver failure should not
take a channel off air. Controlling eight radios as four Main/Standby pairs means the
controller itself understands that redundancy, rather than the operator having to manually
swap to a spare unit mid-incident.
Day to day the controller is operated from its own front panel, with a built-in speaker and
microphone, so it works as a complete station without external accessories. Configuration is
done through a standard web browser over an encrypted connection - no proprietary software to
install or keep updated on a control-room PC. Power is provided through a redundant DC
connection and Power over Ethernet simultaneously, so the loss of either supply path does not
take the controller down.
The desktop version comes in two connector options: part 104694 with a Lemo connector, or
part 104695 with a PJ7 connector, so the choice can match whatever headset standard the rest
of the installation already uses. The same design is also available as the console-mount RC-8C
and the sub-rack RC-8SR, for installations where a free-standing desktop unit is not the right
form factor.
Features
Eight radios, four channels. Main/Standby pairing, so a transceiver
failure does not take a channel off air.
Built-in speaker and microphone. A complete operator station on its own,
no external accessories.
Encrypted browser configuration. No proprietary software to install or
maintain.
Redundant DC plus PoE. Two independent power paths.
Lemo or PJ7 connector. Part 104694 or 104695, matched to the site's
headset standard.
Desktop, console or sub-rack. RC-8D, RC-8C and RC-8SR share the same
design for different mounting needs.
Applications
Sourced from Jotron's own RC-8D product page.
Offshore helideck communications. Control room and HLO
positions.
Onshore helipads. Operations rooms.
Multi-position installations. Where more than one operator needs
control of the same radio.
Refits. Replacing an aged control head on an existing
installation.
Support & Documents
PT Vivo Asia Teknologi Indonesia supplies and services radio and GMDSS equipment as
part of a compliant installation rather than as a boxed item. Our scope typically covers:
Selection against the vessel's or facility's carriage requirements and area of operation.
Installation design: antenna siting, feeder runs, power supplies and battery backup.
Supply, installation, termination and commissioning.
Radio survey support, and coordination with class and flag administration where needed.
Programming, channel plans and licence documentation.
Annual testing, battery replacement and ongoing maintenance.
Approvals, frequencies and electrical details vary by variant and market and are
confirmed against the current manufacturer datasheet at quotation stage. Tell us the
vessel type or site, the flag and the equipment already installed, and we will come back
with the right variant and a full bill of materials.
