24 V to 12.5 V DC converter, 8 A current limit, over 94% typical efficiency.
The SAILOR 6090 converts 21-32 V DC input down to a regulated 12.5 V DC output, current limited to 8 A at 12.5 V (7 A at 15 V), with typical efficiency above 94 percent – letting 12 V equipment run properly from the 24 V DC common on vessels and offshore installations.
21-32 V DC in, 12.5 V DC out at ±5%
8 A current limit at 12.5 V; 7 A at 15 V
Over 94% typical efficiency – most of the input power is delivered, not wasted as heat

Description
Vessels and offshore installations are generally wired at a nominal 24 V DC, while a good
deal of useful radio and ancillary equipment is designed for 12 V. The 6090 bridges that gap
properly rather than by tapping half a battery bank, which unbalances the bank and shortens
its life.
The published figures show why this is worth doing as a converter rather than a wiring
trick. Input is accepted across 21 to 32 V DC - wide enough to tolerate a 24 V system's normal
swings under charging and load - and output is regulated to 12.5 V DC within 5 percent, current
limited to 8 A at 12.5 V or 7 A at 15 V, so a fault downstream is contained rather than pulling
the converter down with it. Typical efficiency is stated as greater than 94 percent, which
matters twice over: less input current is drawn for the same delivered power, and less heat is
generated inside the unit, which is what lets a small 294 g, 190 x 85 x 33 mm converter sit in
an equipment space without its own cooling arrangement.
It carries a 10 A ATO mini fuse for protection, and being the manufacturer's own converter
keeps it inside whatever type approval the SAILOR equipment it feeds is carrying - a
consideration a generic DC-DC module of similar rating does not satisfy.
Features
21-32 V DC input. Tolerates a 24 V system's normal charging and load
swings.
12.5 V DC ±5% output. Regulated, not a passive voltage drop.
8 A current limit at 12.5 V. 7 A at 15 V - a downstream fault is
contained.
Over 94% typical efficiency. Less current drawn, less heat generated,
which is why the unit needs no active cooling.
294 g, 190 x 85 x 33 mm. Small enough to mount inside an existing
enclosure.
10 A ATO mini fuse. Standard, easily stocked protection.
Applications
Sourced from the distributor datasheet for part 406090A-00500, consistent across Canada
Satellite, American Satellite and Innovative Satellite Solutions.
Radio installations. Feeding 12 V ancillaries from a 24 V
system.
Bridge equipment. Displays, receivers and accessories.
Refits. Integrating 12 V equipment into an existing 24 V
vessel.
Support & Documents
PT Vivo Asia Teknologi Indonesia supplies and services radio and GMDSS equipment as
part of a compliant installation rather than as a boxed item. Our scope typically covers:
Selection against the vessel's or facility's carriage requirements and area of operation.
Installation design: antenna siting, feeder runs, power supplies and battery backup.
Supply, installation, termination and commissioning.
Radio survey support, and coordination with class and flag administration where needed.
Programming, channel plans and licence documentation.
Annual testing, battery replacement and ongoing maintenance.
Approvals, frequencies and electrical details vary by variant and market and are
confirmed against the current manufacturer datasheet at quotation stage. Tell us the
vessel type or site, the flag and the equipment already installed, and we will come back
with the right variant and a full bill of materials.
